Our history
Letavis AB was founded by Gustav Nadal and Ingemar Pongratz, combining entrepreneurship and molecular biology. Our first product, Amoravis™, is based on discoveries by Professor Kerstin Uvnäs Moberg, a researcher at the Karolinska Institute and a world-leading expert on oxytocin. Her research into how oxytocin regulates the childbirth process inspired the idea that the substance could also influence plant growth.
As a visiting professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Kerstin tested oxytocin on plants and quickly observed larger, more vigorous growth. She filed patents, secured research funding, and initiated a ten-year collaboration with an SLU associate professor, during which multiple crops were tested and clear dose–response curves were established. The effects were particularly pronounced in dill and basil, where treated plants developed strong, white root systems compared to the rotten, brown roots observed in control plants. The results also demonstrated up to a 30% improvement in growth, and a bacteria-free laboratory at SLU was contracted to support global patent applications.
In 2018, the first external trials were conducted with commercial growers and delivered positive results. These trials were repeated with consistent outcomes, and additional cultivation environments – such as cut flowers and vertical farming – were tested to further optimize application methods and timing.
Two years ago, Letavis transitioned from the research phase to the commercial phase. Between 2021 and 2024, the research focus was gradually phased out, and a stable company structure was established to support continued commercialization. Today, Amoravis™ is used commercially in potato production.

Our products reduce the need for harmful chemicals, which promotes safer food production.
- Goal 9: Sustainable industry, innovation and infrastructure – Goal 9 focuses on building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and fostering innovation. It aims to increase access to technology and create sustainable industries that can contribute to economic development and job creation.We develop cutting-edge agritech solutions that strengthen the agricultural sector’s infrastructure.
- Goal 12: Sustainable consumption and production – Goal 12 encourages responsible consumption and production patterns, emphasizing the need to reduce waste, enhance resource efficiency, and promote sustainable practices in industries, agriculture, and lifestyles to protect the environment and improve overall well-being. Through resource efficiency and the reduction of waste, we contribute to sustainable agriculture.
- Goal 13: Climate Action – This goal stresses urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. It involves taking steps to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to climate change, and raise awareness and mobilize resources for climate-related challenges. Our solutions reduce CO2 emissions through improved agricultural processes and we strive to continously make our products more efficient to reduce climate impact.
- Goal 15: Ecosystems and Biodiversity – Goal 15 seeks to protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. It focuses on halting deforestation, combating desertification, halting biodiversity loss, and ensuring the sustainable management of land and natural resources. We support sustainable land use and biodiversity.
