INNOVATION AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING

At Letavis, we see Swedish agriculture as a driving force for both food security and sustainable development. Farming has propelled human development for generations, and it will continue to play a crucial role in tackling future challenges – from climate change to increasing demands for sustainable production. To succeed, we must strengthen the links between research, advisory services, and farmers. This is where innovation and effective knowledge sharing become essential. Sweden has come a long way, but we believe there are still many opportunities left to develop.

Knowledge as a Competitive Advantage

Swedish agriculture is characterized by high levels of craftsmanship and technical expertise, but we also operate in a country with vast geographical and climatic variations. In our long and narrow country, access to advisory services and knowledge sharing differs significantly depending on location. A potato grower in Skåne faces completely different conditions than a colleague in Norrbotten. At the same time, both research and advisory services need to reach everyone – something that is not always easy.

There is a strong need to secure future competitiveness, which is why we need to build a more robust system for knowledge sharing, where new innovations quickly translate into practical solutions on farms. Products like our biostimulant Amoravis™ have the potential to significantly strengthen the agricultural sector. Therefore, improving the flow of knowledge sharing is something we see as a critical measure to enhance the resilience of Swedish agriculture.

A key success factor is to build upon the strong networks and industry organizations that already exist – such as Potatisodlarna and local advisory clusters. By strengthening the collaboration between these networks and academia, we can foster a more vibrant culture of innovation.

Innovation as a Driving Force

But innovation is not just about new technology – it’s also about new ways of working and collaborating. When potato growers, advisors, and researchers come together to tackle concrete challenges, such as plant protection or more efficient water management, valuable insights emerge. However, these meetings do not always happen naturally today.

We see a clear need to create more meeting places and forums where research findings can be translated into practical solutions. At the same time, we must harness the experience and innovative spirit that already exists among farmers themselves – after all, those working closest to the land are often the first to test and develop new methods.

From Fragmentation to Collaboration

A recurring theme in the discussion around knowledge sharing is the need for better coordination. Today, there are many great initiatives, but they risk becoming isolated islands. To create real change, we need to adopt a systems perspective – where all actors, from government agencies and researchers to suppliers and farmers, see themselves as parts of the same knowledge ecosystem.

Building the Future of Farming Together

At Letavis, we believe in the power of collaboration. By connecting traditional farming expertise with cutting-edge research and innovative products, we want to contribute to a stronger and more sustainable Swedish agriculture.

We look forward to being an active part of the knowledge sharing and innovation culture needed to meet the challenges – and opportunities – of the future.
